Our Vision
ATIVO is recognized as an academic institution offering the very best in elementary education, in the City of Macaé, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since its inception in January, 2000, it has demonstrated strong pedagogical and organizational standards. Through its comprehensive vision, ATIVO has realized impressive growth averaging over twenty-five percent per annum. This far-reaching vision brought Macaé its first true English Immersion program in 2004 staffed by native English speaking teachers and instituted as ATIVO - A Global School (AGS).
In 2008, the school acquired licensing privileges to implement the renowned International Primary Curriculum, which has full backing from the University of Bath, England, the educational organization that also validates the meritorious standing of the International Baccalaureate organization and its flagship Diploma Program. Inscribed as a school-within-a-school, AGS serves the international community with educational programming ranging from pre-school through high school.
With an expanding vision to further solidify its position as the leader in world class education in Macaé, ATIVO and A Global School chose to invite the emergence of the International School of Macaé (ISoM), during the third quarter of 2008. Within the scope of the accepted proposal, ISoM has assumed the challenges and responsibilities to provide the City of Macaé with an international education option, in tandem with ATIVO.
Initial and exploratory points of communication have been established with the ECIS, the CIS, the NEASC, the IBO, and the Advanc-ED group (see our Links page for more information). ISoM is actively benchmarking to meet each of these agencies' rigorous accreditation standards. It has begun its initial requirement of undergoing a process of self-analysis regarding its academic offerings and proven measurable results, along with a critical review of its operational policies.
